Do trees grow back in Sons of the Forest? If you’re worried about your surroundings starting to look flat, here’s what you should know.

Naturally, the first thing you’d want to do when you’re thrown into some unknown Cannibal-infested island is to seek shelter. In Sons of the Forest, this requires you to chop down nearby trees to gather all the logs needed to build one.

However, after going on a chopping spree for a while, you may notice that your surroundings may start to look barren. And without proper transportation, gathering logs from somewhere far away just makes the game even more challenging than it already is.

All the nightmare-inducing creatures aside, having a base covered with lush trees in Sons of the Forest helps give a more lively impression to your surroundings. If you’ve already built a lovely house, then it’s likely you may want to keep it looking nice and cozy.

But logs are needed to craft many things, like firewood, shelter, doors, and so on. Assuming you’ve been collecting them for survival, it’s possible for your surroundings to quickly look quite flat or “unnatural” after a while.

Fortunately, trees do grow back in Sons of the Forest, though not in the same exact place. Trees leave stumps on the ground after being chopped. However, instead of spawning on the same stump, they’ll grow around new saplings that appear in your game.

You can clear the stumps to let more saplings appear; just be patient, as trees can take some time to grow. In the meantime, you’ll want to keep an eye out for a Rope Gun and Shovel to increase your chances of survival.
