Palworld monthly server costs estimated at almost $500k

Palworld CEO, Takuro Mizobe, and a network engineer, Chujo Hiroto, have shared the cost of running the game’s servers. In a pair of light-hearted posts on social media, the pair revealed the figure: ¥70 million, or almost $500k USD.

Palworld has captivated players across the world, selling 19 million copies across Steam and Xbox. And breaking a slew of records in the process.

All of this is no mean feat for an indie game in early access. But a triumph like this doesn’t come cheap.

Pocketpair’s CEO, Takuro Mizobe, made a light-hearted post on social media recently, showing the companies expected server costs for this month. The total is over ¥70 million, almost $500k USD.

“Wait, maybe we’ll go bankrupt due to server fees?” Says the translated caption of the screenshot sharing the estimate.

The number of concurrent players Palworld has been drawing is massive, so it’s not surprising to see a figure this high.

One of Pocketpair’s network engineers, Chujo Hiroto, soon chimed in to explain in English why costs are so high.

“Following the order to never let the service go down no matter what, we have prepared servers without regard to cost.” Hiroto wrote, going on to say the team would keep giving their all to let players continue to enjoy the game.

Palworld’s success has seen the game sell 19 million copies since it’s release.

Pocketpair have indicated future plans to increase the game’s multiplayer capabilities, which would no doubt drive these costs up further.
